Corn looks tough due to lack of moisture, Kooiker said July 8. “It’s curled up basically every day,” he said. He received one-half inch of rain on July 5 and about one-tenth the rest of the week. Corn should be tasseling based on growing degree accumulation since planting, but lack of moisture seems to be holding it back, he said. Tonnage on second cutting hay was short.
