Farmers made a big push early last week to get 80% to 95% of their corn planted, Ten Napel said May 23. “We had a three-day stretch where guys were going almost 24 hours a day,” he said. “You could see a lot of headlights out there at 3 a.m.” Soil conditions were dry on top but remain wet underneath the surface after frequent rains. Corn planted in late April is finally spiking through.
