Iowa Farm Bureau is hosting Take Root farm succession workshops at three locations beginning this month.

The program consists of two 3-hour evening sessions to help farmers develop a comprehensive, managed approach for their family farm’s continuation and growth for future generations.

Upcoming workshops will be held in Shelby County on Jan. 18 and 25, Tama County on Feb. 15 and 29 and Palo Alto County on Feb. 22 and March 21.

During the Take Root workshops, presenters will examine real-life success stories from Iowa farm families and discuss generational differences and needs.

Presenters will also teach participants how to prepare for and conduct family meetings to discuss farm succession, and offer tools and strategies for transferring wealth and assets while minimizing the estate and income tax impact.

The program is free to all Iowa Farm Bureau members and $60 per couple for non-members.

To register, contact the county Farm Bureau office for the location you would like to attend.
