An Iowa Farm Bureau cattle market study trip to the Texas Panhandle fostered a dialogue about marketing challenges encountered by farmers and ranchers raising cattle in vastly different production systems and how they might arrive at solutions acceptable to both sides.

Nine Farm Bureau members who raise cattle in Iowa took part in the intensive three-day trip, touring several ranches and feedlots around Amarillo to learn how Texas ranchers raise and market their cattle. They also met with leaders from the Texas Cattle Feeders

Association and cattle buyers for large retailers, including Walmart.
