Egg industry examining impacts of cage-free movement

It’s still unknown how the decision by companies like McDonald’s and Burger King to source cage-free eggs will change the egg industry in the United States, experts said last week.
A recent announcement from McDonald’s said the company will switch to cage-free eggs by 2025 in its 16,000 restaurants in the United States and Canada.
“Our customers are increasingly interested in knowing more about their food and where it comes from,” said McDonald’s USA President Mike Andres in a statement. “Our decision to source only cage-free eggs reinforces the focus we place on food quality and our menu to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”
