R.W. and Mary Nelson of Des Moines and Carol Messer of Yarmouth were recognized with the 2019 Iowa Farm Bureau Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award at the organization’s annual meeting Dec. 4 in Des Moines.

The Nelsons, co-founders of Kemin Industries, a leading global provider of food technologies, launched their manufacturing plant when they were farming in an old wool barn with just two product lines.
