Cargill’s move based on activism, not sow welfare
Cargill’s decision to move to group housing for its sow herd was based on animal rights activists, not animal welfare, an Iowa pork leader said.
"Cargill didn’t do it for the betterment of the animals. They did it to get rid of the headache of having activist bullies on their doorstep," said Jamie Schmidt, president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association.
