Cattle  numbers keep growing, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It showed the largest Sept. 1 inventory of cattle in the U.S. since at least 1996.

The USDA’s cattle on feed report showed there were 11.1 million head of cattle on feed in U.S. feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 head or more as of Sept. 1. This was up 6 percent from Sept. 1, 2017.
