The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, along with hundreds of other state and national agriculture org­anizations, last week urged lawmakers to refrain from altering or eliminating long-standing tax code provisions that are fundamental to the financial health of farmers and ranchers. 

Tax changes, which are being considered as Congress drafts President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” agenda, could threaten the survival of generational family farms, the groups said in a letter to congressional leaders. The changes could also prevent beginning farmers from getting a start in agriculture or expanding their operations, they said.
