A warm summer evening. Prairie flowers in bloom. Fireflies dancing in the night air. Friends, family, music. The smell of pizza baking in the oven.

Yes, pizza. Farm Bureau members Dave and Anna Geyer bake dozens of pizzas in their outdoor stone ovens on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at Geyer’s Oven pizza farm near Oxford.

“The idea is to relax and enjoy yourself,” says Anna Geyer. Folks bring their own lawn chairs, beverages, even their own table service and party decorations if it makes them feel at home. The Geyer farm provides the atmosphere. Along with pizza, there is a flower cutting garden, bed & breakfast accommodations and a Land Alliance Folk School.

“It’s a way to connect with the land,” says Geyer.
