Week of September 19 fuel and energy price update

DES MOINES – The price of unleaded gasoline in Iowa fell $.02 this week, closing at $2.19 per gallon.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.14 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $43.44.
Brent crude oil rose $1.06, and is currently priced at $46.91.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $46.68 and Brent crude was at $47.64.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, September 20th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.19 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.02 lower than one week ago and $.14 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.21, which is $.03 higher than last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were one cent lower with a statewide average of $2.36. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.45 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is the same as the national average of $2.36.
Wholesale ethanol prices held steady at last week’s price, closing at $1.51.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.39 for U87-E10, $1.73 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.52, ULSD#1 is at $1.69, and E-70 is priced at $1.61 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices were unchanged from last month with a statewide average of $.95 per gallon. Home heating oil rose $.03 from last month’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $1.89. Natural Gas prices rose $.02 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.08 / MMbtu.
