Natural gas prices rose 30 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $5.86/MMbtu.
Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.18 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $77.53.
- Brent crude oil rose $2.17 and currently priced at $81.09.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $40.67 and Brent crude was at $41.27.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, October 6, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.04 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices were up 2 cents from last week’s price and $.97 higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $3.22, up 3 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 7 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.23.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.18 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 16 cents less than the national average of $3.39.
- Wholesale ethanol was steady and is currently priced at $2.21.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.30 for U87-E10, $2.52 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.58 for ULSD#2, $2.76 for ULSD#1, and $2.48 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Propane prices were up 23 cents with a statewide average of $1.92 per gallon
- Home heating oil prices rose 34 cents, with a statewide average of $3.00 per gallon.
- Natural gas prices rose 30 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $5.86/MMbtu.
- Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
