Natural gas prices rose 96 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $8.32/MMbtu.
Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $5.19 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $106.25.
- Brent crude oil rose $4.14 and currently priced at $108.80.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $65.69 and Brent crude was at $67.32.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, May 4, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.92 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices rose 6 cents from last week’s price and $1.13 higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $4.23, up 10 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 42 cents this week with a statewide average of $5.28.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.02 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 15 cents less than the national average of $5.43.
- Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $3.14 for U87-E10, $3.52 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $4.33 for ULSD#2, $4.45 for ULSD#1, and $2.93 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Natural gas prices rose 96 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $8.32/MMbtu.
- Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
