  • The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $3.07 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $68.72.
  • Brent crude oil fell $3.60 and currently priced at $70.90.
  • One year ago, WTI crude sold for $41.70 and Brent crude was at $43.99.
 Motor Fuels
  • As of Wednesday, August 4, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.00 across Iowa according to AAA. 
    1. Prices were steady from last week’s price and $.95 higher than one year ago. 
    2. The national average on Wednesday was $3.19, up 3 cents from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa were steady this week with a statewide average of $3.12. 
    1. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.21 in Iowa. 
    2. The current Iowa diesel price is 17 cents less than the national average of $3.29.
  • Wholesale ethanol fell 10 cents and is currently priced at $2.22.
  • The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.17 for U87-E10, $2.49 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.22 for ULSD#2, $2.38 for ULSD#1, and $2.33 per gallon for E-70 prices.
 Heating Fuels
