Week of April 10 fuel and energy price update

DES MOINES – Retail gasoline prices recorded a second week of gains. In Iowa, prices rose $.04 this week, closing at $2.35 per gallon. The national retail gasoline average was $2.40 per gallon, a $.05 rise.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.94 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $53.04.
Brent crude oil was up $1.42 and is currently priced at $55.77.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $42.17 and Brent crude was at $43.02.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, April 11th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.35 across Iowa according to AAA. This is up $.04 from last week and $.33 higher than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.40, $.05 higher than last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were up $.02 with a statewide average of $2.47. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.07 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.05 lower than the national average of $2.52.
Wholesale ethanol prices were up $.04 from last week’s price, closing at $1.68.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.67 for U87-E10, $1.87 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.74, ULSD#1 is at $1.87, and E-70 is priced at $1.72 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices are up a penny at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.08/ MMbtu.
Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
