The three summer months of 2016 (June through August) averaged 1.3 degrees above normal for Iowa. This continued through late September as average temperatures were running 3 to 6 degrees above normal, but there were some cooler days to finish the month.
Summer rainfall was above normal for Iowa, even with June being a drier-than-normal month. September rainfall again made headlines in the state, with heavy amounts causing significant late September flooding in some areas.
