Cleaning Water With Edge-of-Field Practices for Watersheds and Wildlife

Tuesday, Aug. 4 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Cedar Rapids, IA

Join Jim and Casey O'Connell at O'Connell Farms to learn how edge-of-field conservation practices are improving water quality and wildlife habitat. Attendees will explore bioreactors, saturated buffers and wetlands that help reduce nitrate runoff, while learning how partnerships with local organizations and Iowa State University support water quality and biodiversity monitoring. Light refreshments will be provided following the field day.

Grazing CRP for Beginning Farmers

Tuesday, Aug. 4 | 4:00–6:00 p.m.

Harper, IA

Join Eric and Madison Adam to learn how grazing Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land can improve soil health while creating value for beginning farmers. Attendees will explore rotational goat grazing, strategies for increasing forage diversity and opportunities for penalty-free grazing on CRP acres. A meal will be provided following the field day.

New Beginnings: Cover Crops as an Essential Part of Transitioning Land to Horticulture

Tuesday, August 11 | 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Fairfield, IA

Join Nick Campney of Mundo Lindo Farms to learn how cover crops and no-till practices can help transition land from row crop production to horticultural crops. Nick will share his experience converting 60 acres into a diverse vegetable farm featuring annual and perennial food production, hay and native grass plantings, along with lessons learned from starting a new farming operation. Producing Practical and Useful Cattle

Join Shayne and Chance Wiese of Wiese and Sons Herefords to learn how five generations of cattle producers are raising practical, high-performing Hereford cattle while improving the land for future generations. Participants will explore grazing cereal rye, annual forages for pasture relief and soil health, cattle epigenetics, and low-stress cattle handling techniques. Developing Sustainable Fuels Markets Through Conservation

West Union, IA

Join Trust In Food at FLOLO Farm for a full day of learning focused on sustainable fuel markets and conservation practices for Iowa row crop farmers. Hear from award-winning farmer Loran Steinlage and industry experts as they discuss carbon intensity scoring, conservation programs, nitrogen management tools, and emerging opportunities in sustainable agriculture. The event also includes live field demonstrations, a producer roundtable, and an industry panel. Lunch will be provided.
