Drought and heat aren’t the only problems the corn crop had to contend with this year.

"We found extensive evidence of corn rootworm feeding in several fields this summer," says Tristan Mueller, Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) On-Farm Net­work operations manager.

There was a noticeable difference between untreated roots and those that received an insecticide at planting in several of the 2013 soil-applied insecticide trials.
