Iowa farmers are encouraged to consider utilizing an online tool that can model nutrient and sediment losses from their crop acres or pastureland and the effects of implementing additional conservation practices.

The Nutrient Tracking Tool, developed by the modeling team of Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research at Tarleton State University, can be used to help reach the goals of the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy (INRS), a science and technology-based framework to assess and reduce nutrients to Iowa waters and the Gulf of Mexico.

The goal is to reduce nutrient losses by 45%.
