The overall colder-than-normal weather pattern Iowa has experienced since November of last year reached its coldest point during February, when comparing monthly average temperatures.

The statewide average temperature was 11.4 degrees below normal, making it the seventh coldest February for the state in 142 years. Overall, the 2013-14 winter (December through February) was the ninth coldest on record in Iowa.
