Emergency repairs will require traffic in the construction zone on U.S. 20 near Duncombe to be detoured from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 9, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office. The road will be closed between Iowa 17/Hamilton County Road R-21 (exit 136) and Webster County Road P-73.
In this area, the westbound lanes of U.S. 20 are currently under construction and traffic has been switched to a head-to-head traffic pattern in the eastbound lanes. Recent heavy rains have caused potholes to develop in the open eastbound lanes. Necessary repairs to those lanes are the reason for the closure.
During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone by using Union Avenue (Webster County Road P-73), 220th Street, and Iowa 17.
