The Iowa Department of Transportation is providing public notice and requesting public input on the proposed detours for Interstate 35 (I-35) at interchange Exit 47 (G-64) and interchange Exit 52 (G-50), and on proposed bridge improvements on Warren County Roads G-64 and G-50 over I-35 in Warren County, Iowa. Proposed bridge improvements include deck overlays, replacement of bridge approaches, installation of new guardrails, and adding paved shoulders. Construction is anticipated to occur during the 2022 construction season.
During construction the bridges on Warren County Road G-64 and G-50, over I-35, will be closed to traffic. Projects will be coordinated so the bridges are not closed at the same time. Motorists exiting I-35 to traverse the overhead bridges will be directed onto signed detour routes. The state detours would be in place while the bridges are closed.
Detour I-35 interchange Exit 47 (G-64): Motorists traveling on I-35 and using Exit 47 to drive on the Warren County Road G-64 bridge over I-35 will be directed to the following detours.
- Southbound I-35 traffic using Exit 47 to travel east on G-64 will be directed to I-35 Exit 43 (G-76) then back onto I-35 northbound to Exit 47 (G-64) eastbound.
- Northbound I-35 traffic using Exit 47 to travel west on G-64 will be directed to I-35 Exit 52 (G-50) then back onto I-35 southbound to Exit 47 (G-64) westbound.
Detour I-35 interchange Exit 52 (G-50): Motorists traveling on I-35 and using Exit 52 to drive on the Warren County Road G-50 bridge over I-35 will be directed to the following detours.
- Southbound I-35 traffic using Exit 52 to travel east on G-50 will be directed to I-35 Exit 47 (G-64) then back onto I-35 northbound to Exit 52 (G-50) eastbound.
- Northbound I-35 traffic using Exit 52 to travel west on G-50 will be directed to I-35 Exit 56 (IA-92) then back onto I-35 southbound to Exit 52 (G-50) westbound.
