‘Permanent’ farm bill law not in Vilsack’s plan

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is directing his U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) staff to concentrate on implementing the new farm bill and not on enacting permanent law, which would eventually kick in if the new bill is not passed by Congress.

"We want to be in a position to move as quickly and efficiently as possible when the farm bill passes, so that is where the focus is," Vilsack said in a press conference...
