New SCN-resistant soybean line shows promise

Soybean growers have become increasingly defenseless against soybean cyst nematode (SCN) in recent years as the primary genetic source of resistance against the pest, called PI 88788, is losing its effectiveness.
To help counter that trend, Syngenta is gearing up to launch new soybean varieties with SCN resistance derived from the breeding line PI 89772. The new mode of action will be released in NK and Golden Harvest soybeans, said Travis Kriegshauser, U.S. soybean marketing strategy lead for Syngenta.
