Multi-level strategy recommended for rootworm control
Farmers should be proactive in scouting cornfields and consider monitoring for rootworm larvae and adults this month as they review corn rootworm management practices. Good management practices should include multiple treatment strategies such as insecticide application and crop rotation, according to Iowa State University Extension specialists.
An increase in resistant corn rootworm populations has farmers looking for answers, experts said. To provide research-based education about potential options, ISU Extension is hosting rootworm management field days across Iowa this summer.
