Iowa’s variable weather continues, January looks colder

After a colder-than-normal November, the pattern of wide variability in nationwide monthly average temperatures continued in December. Here in Iowa through the time period until just after Christmas, December temperatures were averaging from 5 to 9 degrees above normal in most of the state.
