Strong winds and baseball-size hail caused damage in the western part of the county, Kooiker said Sept. 2. “We had some wind here, but not anything like that,” he said. He had 4.75 inches of rain over the past two weeks. “Beans are really starting to turn,” he said. “There’s a fair amount of guys chopping corn. Yields are all over the place depending on where you are in the field.”
