Soil moisture was replenished with 4 to 6 inches of rain over Labor Day weekend after a long, dry summer, Twedt said Sept. 15. “It’s perhaps too late for this year, but I would say it helped the beans a little,” he said. “It certainly helped the pastures. They were brown.” He seeded cover crops on his silage acres and said harvest might start on lighter corn ground within a week. Soybean harvest is still a couple of weeks away, he said.
