Hoffman received close to 3 inches of rain over 10 days, alleviating drought stress in some fields. “It greened up some,” he said July 15. “The bad spots are still bad, but it evened it out.” He plans to start applying fungicides and insecticides this week. “There are quite a few rootworm beetles out there,” he said. Second cutting hay tonnage was down over 50%.
