No-till soybeans took about three weeks to emerge due to cool soil temperatures, Kooiker said May 20. “It’s slow coming,” he said. “Even the grass and hay isn’t growing very fast. There’s a lot of pastures that are quite short,” Kooiker said. Some cattle feeders are planting corn after chopping rye cover crops for feed. Rainfall totaled about 1.3 inches over the past two weeks.
