“Marshall finished combining soybeans last week and planned to move straight into corn. Yields were above average for early beans but slipped to average or below later as the crop went from 13% to 8% moisture, leading to shrink and shattering losses. “It really matured fast,” he said Oct. 2. One of his neighbors said armyworms defoliated an entire field of alfalfa, preventing a fourth cutting.”
