Harvest has been slowed by damp and cool conditions, Twedt said Oct. 13. “We’re maybe half done with corn and just one-third done with beans,” he said. “Corn moisture is coming down pretty slow. We’re not getting a lot of drying days.” Farmers were fighting green stems in soybeans, but he hoped last week’s hard frost would help. Yields are better than expected, reaching near average on good ground. Stalk quality is a concern.
