Iowa firm sends livestock genetics around the world

Farm Bureau members last week got a behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest semen collection facilities in the world, Hawkeye Breeders Service Inc. in Adel.
The family-owned company began in the 1960s as a custom semen collection facility and bull fertility testing lab. In addition to collection and processing, the company also ships semen from bulls all around the globe, according to David Jensen, who owns and operates the business with his wife, Brandy. Jensen’s grandfather started the business.
