On behalf of the Iowa Forage & Grassland Council (IFGC) Board of Director’s, we’d like to invite everyone to join us for the 2018 Annual Conference being held November 26th & 27th at the Des Moines Airport Holiday Inn. New to this year’s conference will be a cover crop grazing bus tour, offered free of charge to anyone who wants join us. Pre-registration is recommended. We hope that moving the conference to the fall will allow IFGC to better demonstrate practices utilized by producers across the state to extend the grazing season in Iowa.

This year’s featured speakers will be world-renowned grazing consultant, Jim Gerrish, and holistic management expert Byron Shelton from the Savory Institute. Attendees will have three opportunities to listen to each of these speakers discuss a variety of grazing & management topics. Break-out sessions will include the ever-popular producer panel, which will address cover crop utilization as a forage source; Paul Ackley of Bedford, AJ & Kellie Blair of Dayton, and Nathan Manternach of Cascade will comprise that panel. Denise Schwab & Joe Sellers will discuss the results of the recent Cow Systems Project, conducted by the Iowa Beef Center. Elyssa Trejo from Corteva AgriScience will cover weed and brush management. A roundtable discussion is also set to talk about forages and wildlife habitat, or ways to use grazing as part of a viable conservation plan.

Registration for this event is open now (discounted pre-registration fee)!  For additional information, speaker bios, and to download the conference registration form, visit www.iowaforage.org.
