Basis levels vary due to different local supply and demand factors. Areas with high concentrations of end users, such as animal feeders or ethanol plants for corn, or soybean crush plants for soybeans tend to have lower basis levels.
Furthermore, areas where grain is available to export markets at lower costs also tend to have more favorable basis levels....
