As the pace of production at U.S. meat plants returns to normal, the rate of hog slaughter has made a significant recovery and recently exceeded both the five-year average and 2019 levels, according to a new analysis by the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF). 

Federally inspected hog slaughter for the week ended June 6 was estimated at approximately 2.4 million head, the IFBF analysis showed. That was just slightly above the levels for the same week of 2019 and the five-year average.
