Heating oil, natural gas prices trend downward

DES MOINES – Heating oil prices in Iowa dropped $.09 this week, recording a price of $1.88. Natural gas prices also fell, down $.21 to end at $2.32/MMbtu.
Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.69 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $44.77.
Brent crude oil fell $1.23, and is currently priced at $45.73.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $43.87 and Brent crude was at $45.38.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, November 8th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.13 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.03 lower than one week ago and $.19 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.20, down a penny from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.02 from last week’s price with a statewide average of $2.41. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.44 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is a penny lower than the national average of $2.42.
Wholesale ethanol prices were up $.02 from last week’s price, closing at $1.55.
The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.29 for U87-E10, $1.54 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.44, ULSD#1 is at $1.64, and E-70 is priced at $1.64 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices were a penny higher than last week’s report, with a statewide average of $1.04 per gallon. Home heating oil fell $.09 from last week, ending with a statewide average of $1.88. Natural Gas prices fell $.21 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.32 / MMbtu.
