Hauling Grain and Moving Equipment: What the Iowa State Patrol Wants You to Know This Harvest
Webinar Date: Friday, October 16, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM (CST)

Webinar Description:
Harvest puts more farm trucks and equipment on Iowa roads than any other time of year — often in a hurry, often at dusk, and possibly loaded heavier than the driver realizes. The rules that govern those miles are a patchwork of weight limits, permits, farm plate and CDL exemptions, lighting and marking requirements, and the agricultural exemptions that apply to some operations but not others. Getting it wrong costs time and money in the eight weeks we can least afford inturruptions.

We are pleased to welcome Trooper Job Huisman of the Iowa State Patrol's Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, who will walk through the Patrol's agricultural program — what the weight rules actually say, which exemptions apply to farm operations and where they stop, and what troopers are looking for when they see a grain truck or a piece of equipment on the road this fall. Time will be reserved for your questions.

About the Speaker:
Trooper Job Huisman serves with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, Area C, of the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Public Safety, stationed in Cedar Falls. The Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit provides commercial vehicle regulation training to organizations across Iowa, including the agricultural program he will present in this webinar.
