According to the November 11 th USDA Crop Progress report, 94% of the Iowa corn crop has been harvested as well as 97% of soybeans. Corn harvest in Iowa has finally caught up to the 5-year average, but soybean harvest progress is 2% behind the 5-yr average. As harvest begins to wrap up across the state, farmers are working to complete other fieldwork such as applying anhydrous ammonia. As you can see in the soil temperature map below, the 4-inch soil temperatures as of November 16 th are currently below 50 degrees across the majority of the state except for far southeast Iowa and a portion of southwest Iowa.
