Feeder Cattle

Mexico’s cattle industry is heavily oriented towards cow-calf operations, allowing it to be the dominant source of U.S. feeder cattle imports. From 2020-2024, the U.S. imported on average 962,177 feeder cattle from January-October. However, feeder cattle imports have been heavily impacted by three live cattle import suspensions since November 2024. So far this year, the U.S. has imported only 214,394 feeder cattle from Mexico, a number that is usually eclipsed within the first quarter of the year.
