Iowa farmers logged long hours on the planter last week, taking advantage of a break between rain events to get most of their 2014 corn crop in the ground.

"We got 60 percent of our corn done in two-and-a-half days," said Matt Siefker, a Wright County Farm Bureau member. "It was a little sticky to start the week, but by Tuesday and Wednesday, it dried out pretty good. It was 10 times better than last year."
