Consistent spring warmth slow to arrive

A much cooler than normal February led to the three-month climatological winter (December through February) average temperature in Iowa to average 1.5 degrees below normal.
March brought some of the typical variability in weather conditions we often experience here in Iowa, but not too many extreme temperatures.
Through late last week, it appeared there would be few, if any subzero low temperatures recorded in the state, while the warmest high temperatures recorded would be the 60s to 70.
