Bloom and unwind
Hillsdale Lily Garden offers scenic beauty, fellowship and fun in the western Iowa countryside.
Looking out over their field of lilies, Farm Bureau members Todd and Lu Peverill take in the beauty of 250,000 plants in full bloom. The semi-retired high school coach and his high school counselor wife never imagined their family farm would become a tourism destination.
The 80 acres southeast of Glenwood in Mills County have been in the family for three generations, since the 1940s.
With a little imagination, the prodding of a friend, Lu’s management skills and Todd’s green thumb, 3 acres of the farm are now Hillsdale Lily Garden. The site is named for the small town that used to be in the area near the intersection of Highways 34 and 275.
Hillsdale Lily Garden offers 1.25 acres...
