Beef checkoff steps up promotion efforts

The Iowa Beef Industry Council (IBIC) was recognized recently for its efforts to promote beef through the state-funded beef checkoff.
The council won a protein Oscar award at the national cattle convention in New Orleans recently for its Iowa beef checkoff-funded video about the Bryan and Jessica Flexsenhar family of Winthrop.
The video was only one example of how the council is using checkoff dollars to promote beef. The Iowa State Beef Checkoff collects 50 cents per head of every animal sold. The state also gets 50 cents of the $1-per-head national checkoff that Iowa cattle farmers pay.
