Marin Bozic answers a few questions about USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage program. Marin is an assistant professor in the University of Minnesota’s Department of Applied Economics, where he conducts research on dairy risk management and dairy policy, and teaches undergraduate courses on agribusiness finance, risk management, and financial modelling.
The DMC program offers reasonably priced protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all-milk price and the average feed cost (the margin) falls below a certain dollar amount selected by the producer.
