The January WASDE report offered bearish surprises to the corn and soybean markets as yields and production were higher than expected. US corn yields were raised from 174.9 to 177.3 bu/ac and US soybean yields were raised from 49.9 to 50.6 bu/ac. These increases were much larger than expected.
