When pioneer blacksmith John Deere unveiled the self-cleaning, steel plow back in 1837, there was no way he could have predicted his invention would lead to what we know today as Deere & Company.
Deere created the foundation for a company that today is a worldwide leader in the production of equipment for all types of agriculture, lawn and garden, and construction-related uses.
The John Deere story is important to Iowa, especially given the state’s ag-based economy and the fact that Iowa is home to a number of Deere & Company facilities. Simply put, “John Deere Green” is a popular (and welcome) color in Iowa!
