USDA Announces Climate-Smart Projects

On September 14th USDA announced the first round of projects that will receive funding through the Partnership for Climate-Smart Commodities program. The grants include up to $2.8 billion for 70 projects across the US that were selected from a pool of 450 proposals. It is estimated that the selected projects could reach up to 50,000 farms encompassing up to 25 million acres and sequester up to 50 million metric tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the projects.
There are 18 projects from the announcement that involve Iowa and total up to just over $1 billion in funding. For more information click here.
