Becky Meyer gave local teachers a tour of her family farm near Charles City earlier this summer, pointing out the different pieces of farm equipment and explaining how corn is planted, harvested and stored.
“Children should know the difference between corn and soybeans, and they should know what implement is in the field and what happens in various seasons,” Meyer, president of the Floyd County Farm Bureau, told the teachers as they stood in the shade of the farm’s grain bins.
