Despite sharply lower corn prices and forecasts for increased soybean acres nationwide, Iowa farmers are likely to seed about as many acres to corn in 2014 as they actually planted in 2013, an Iowa State University (ISU) Extension specialist said last week.

"I just don’t see significant changes in the corn acreage for Iowa this year," said Steve Johnson, a farm management specialist at ISU Extension. "I think most guys think that corn still gives them the best chance to make a profit this year, rather than trying to lose less money by planting soybeans."
